For you real nerds and techhies (hey, it’s okay, I’m one too…), I thought I would list some of my gear here so you know what I’m listening on.
Currently I have a Pro-ject Debut III turntable with an Audio Technica AT-440MLA cartridge. I’m super happy with this setup. While the Pro-Ject turntable is considered entry-level to many audiophiles, it was a big step up for me from my previous turntables, which included a Technics linear tracking table, a Denon (which I can’t remember the model # of, but it was cheap plastic turntable– not my favorite), and a Dual CS-505. I liked the Technics and the Dual, but with the Pro-Ject my records sound better than ever…much more musical. The cartridge helps a lot too. I read many rave reviews of the AT-440MLA, and they were right! It has to be the best “bang for the buck” cartridge out there right now. I also have my turntable sitting on 4 Audioquest Sorbothane feet, which effectively isolate it from vibration. I’m not sure if these are being made any more…I haven’t been able to find them online.
All of this is going through a Luxman R-1050 receiver, a pair of KEF C20 speakers, and a Polk PSW 100 Subwoofer.
